Job Title: Citizenship Legal Services Director

Position Type: Full-Time, Exempt

Full-Time Salary Band: $75,000-$85,000, based on experience

Reports to: Executive Director

Location: This is an in-person position in Yakima, WA

We offer three core programs: Adult Education, Early Learning, and Citizenship Services, which positively impact over 1,000 families annually. Our Citizenship Program offers vital legal and educational support, fostering self-confidence and self-empowerment within immigrant communities throughout central Washington.

The Director of Citizenship Legal Services plays a critical role in educating, informing, and advising the immigrant community about immigration policy changes that impact their lives. The ideal candidate has experience in immigration law and is dedicated to immigrant rights, equity, and systemic change while providing culturally competent and trauma-informed immigration legal services.

RESPONSABILIDADES

Citizenship Legal Services

  • Has knowledge about U.S. Immigration Law: Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of US Immigration laws, regulations, and procedures to provide accurate and up-to-date counsel to citizenship clients.
  • Review and prepare citizenship applications and represent clients with USCIS.
  • Uphold the highest ethical standards and ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Support DOJ-accredited representatives in delivering legal services and implement strategies to improve the efficiency and capacity of the legal services team.
  • Provide strategic direction and oversight of quarterly citizenship legal clinics to ensure alignment with organizational goals and best practices.
  • Oversee the renewal of DOJ recognition and accreditation.
  • Facilitate community education and information sessions regarding immigration policy changes.

Fundraising and Contract Management and Supervision

  • Supervise and ensure compliance with all program contracts, grant deliverables, and reporting requirements.
  • Lead annual contract and grant renewals.
  • Identify new funding opportunities and execute fundraising initiatives to ensure program financial sustainability.

Strategic Relationships

  • Represent La Casa Hogar before government agencies, community partners, and legal services networks.
  • Maintain and strengthen the relationship with USCIS at the local, state, and federal levels, facilitating public relations and collaboration efforts.

  • Continuously pursue education and training opportunities to excel in the role of Legal Services Director.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding all financial, staff, donor, and student/client information.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Admitted to the bar in any U.S. state, fully accredited OLAP/DOJ representative, or experienced immigration paralegal.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in immigration law and managing a legal services team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Spanish.
  • Possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with clients, government agencies, and internal team members effectively.
  • Experience with trauma-informed and culturally competent practices.
  • Proficient in case management databases, Microsoft Office, and Google Drive.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as the position requires.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

  • Salary: $75,000 - $85,000 annually, based on experience.
  • 3 weeks of paid scheduled office closures, typically during school breaks.
  • 2 weeks of paid vacation accrued annually.
  • 2 weeks of paid sick/wellness time accrued annually.
  • 14 paid holidays.
  • Annual health stipend of $7,380.
  • Annual retirement contribution of $1,600.
  • Annual $2,500 investment for educational and professional development.
